"Remote working" or "Local working"?
Have we got the terminology wrong when it comes to “Remote
Working”?
Should the
terminology really be “Local Working”?
With the development
of working hubs outside the main cities and the practice of working from home,
people are working locally to where they live.
This simple
change in terminology is more meaningful as there has been this perception that
“Remote Working” was something one did off grid in the back end of nowhere.
Local
Working means that large, medium and small organisations can have a footprint
in all kinds of communities throughout a region or a country. It makes these
organisations local with local communities buying into their wellbeing and
success. Imagine the pride a small rural town would have in being able to say
Linkedin, Google, Facebook, Amazon etc have a presence in our town with some of
their team working in the local hub. Imagine also the many benefits this brings
to these organisations in the form of positive brand image, greatly reduced
overheads along with local loyal talent to name just a few.
